Commissioners start year with three-minute meeting
Editor of The Wood County Democrat
About three minutes after it began, the Wood County Commissioners Court adjourned their first meeting of the year.
The short, 6-item agenda included mostly matters of routine business. Payroll in the amount of $312,214.21 was unanimously approved. As there were no lineitem transfers or budget amendments, the commissioners moved on to approve a number of claims. Health and dental insurance claims in the amount of $20,767.46 was unanimously approved; accounts payable claims in the amount of $184,220.25 were unanimously approved, and $120 in direct claims was unanimously approved.
Four personnel actions were also unanimously approved: Deborah Quisenberry retired from her position as Secretary II for Precinct 1; Marlene Horn was hired full time to replace Quisenberry; Edward Thompson ended his position as a road tech with Pct. 4, and Brandon C. Gamm was terminated from his position as a jailer with the Wood County Sheriff's Office.
Finally, the commissioners approved a letter of credit that would allow the county to purchase road oil. The letter of credit was issued by BankTexas in the amount of $25,000 to fulfill the requirements set forth by the Railroad Commission of Texas, which "requires purchasers of oil to file a form of financial assistance."
The meeting ended at 10:03. With the exception of Pct. 1 Commissioner Virgil Holland, all commissioners and the county judge were present for the meeting.
