Iron Horse Festival returns

Posted

The Mineola Iron Horse Festival is back on the schedule for Saturday, Sept. 25 after being canceled in 2020.

The Mineola Chamber of Commerce sponsors the familiar day-long festivities on the downtown streets south of Broad St. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Popular attractions include the Creature Teacher, Old West gunfighters’ train robbery, pie baking contest, entertainment by Dance Dimensions students (the studio will also hold its benefit fun run at the Nature Preserve at 8:30 a.m.), weenie dog races and watermelon eating contest.

There will be musical entertainment throughout the day, and a variety of vendors will be set up for food, crafts, community organizations and more.

The Mineola Landmark Commission will sponsor its benefit hobo meal.

The chamber is seeking sponsors for the event, with levels from $2,000 to $50. Call 903-569-2087.

Vendor registration continues through Sept. 23. Applications can be found on the chamber’s website, mineolachamber.org.
