Host Quitman boys place third in track meet

The Quitman Bulldogs placed third during last week’s Quitman Track meet. Commerce took team top honors with 162 points followed by Rivercrest with 137 points and the Bulldogs’ 122 points. Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill had 83 points, Como-Pickton 66 points and Alba-Golden with 26 points.

Host Quitman boys place third in track meet

The Quitman Bulldogs placed third during last week’s Quitman Track meet. Commerce took team top honors with 162 points followed by Rivercrest with 137 points and the Bulldogs’ 122 points. Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill had 83 points, Como-Pickton 66 points and Alba-Golden with 26 points.

First place winners for Quitman were Ford Tannebaum in the 110-meter hurdles and in the 300-meter hurdles, with teammate Alex Burman taking second in both events. Matthew Smith added a fifth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.

Another first place for Quitman came from Brandon Jimenez in the 800-meter run. Dakota Jimenez placed fifth in the same event. Taking first place in the long jump for Quitman was Hunter Jacobs.

In the 400-meter dash Quitman’s Cason Johnson placed second and Brandon Jimenez took fourth.  

Quitman’s Levi Thompson took sixth in the 100 meter dash and third in high jump competition while Bulldog Christian Plata had a sixth-place finish in the 1,600-meter run. Thompson also had a third place finish in the high jump. Thomas Sebedra finished second in the triple jump and Johnata Joes took sixth in discus. Matthew Smith had a third-place finish in the pole vault.

Quitman placed second in the 4x400 meter with runners Mariano Manriquez, Brennan Miller, Brandon Jimenez and Cason Johnson. The 4x100 relay the Bulldogs took third with runners Miller, Johnson, Jack Tannebaum and Wyatt Hightower.

Alba-Golden’s J. Hallman took third in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 400 meter dash. The Panthers’ Joey Beck took fifth in the 3,200-meter run. Jason Langston was a fourth place finisher in the 110 meter hurdles. A-G’s Erin Hubbard took a fifth in shot put and the 4x400 meter relay team of Hallman, Dylan O’Quinn, Beck and Kyle Kennedy.
