Hawks hold on to beat Hughes Springs
The Hawkins Hawks held off a Hughes Springs’ fourth-quarter rally to score a 63-59 win over the Mustangs. The Hawks had the early hot hand, going up 39-18 at the half. The teams battled evenly in the third quarter and Hawkins held a comfortable 52-32 lead going into the final quarter.
Hughes Springs went on an offensive roll and put up 27 points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks held on the win.
The Hawks had four players in double figures with Camron Taylor hitting for 16 points, Tristian Garrett and Collin Barber 13 each and Paeton Smith 11.
Hawkins won the JV game 45-29 over Hughes Springs.
The Hawks travel to Arp Friday and will open district play at Carlisle Dec. 18.
