The Hawkins Hawks came out firing against Tyler HEAT on Tuesday, Nov. 27, and kept up the pressure taking home a 63-48 victory.
The Hawks led 15-5 after one quarter and 32 to 16 at the half. The teams played even throughout the second half with the HEAT scoring 32 points and Hawkins 31 in the final two quarters.
For Hawkins Camron Taylor put in a team high of 21 points followed by Tristian Garrett with 12, Colin Barber and Akim Richmond nine each, Zach Conde five, Jaydon Dacus four and Chris Jackson three.
Three-point field goals for Hawkins were by Dacus (1) Garrett (2) Conde (1) Richmond (1) Taylor (1).
In the JV game Hawkins fell to the HEAT 32-22.
The Hawks opened tournament play at Hughes Springs on Thursday with a pair of games.
Hawkins routed New Boston 61-36 using a big 18-8 advantage in the second quarter to pull away from the Lions.
Hawkins scoring against New Boston was Garrett 18, Conde 15, Taylor 15, Dacus five, Collin Barber four, Chris Jackson two and Richmond two.

The Hawks took on host Hughes Springs in the second game building a 20-9 first quarter lead and never looking back speeding by the Mustangs 66-42. Hawkins built up a 19 point halftime advantage and coasted in the second half to blast Hughes Springs.
Scoring for the Hawks were Taylor with 20, Richmond, 16, Garrett, 9, Conde, 10, Collin Barber,8, and Dacus,3.

On Friday, the Hawks ran roughshod over Harleton 74-14 behind great defense. They were on offense by Taylor with 14 and Barber 13.
The Hawks were set to host Hughes Springs on Tuesday and travel to Union Grove this weekend for a tournament.
