Five arrested in brawl at Jarvis Friday morning
Five Jarvis Christian College students were arrested after law enforcement officers were called to the college this morning about a large disturbance on the campus.
A press release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department states that the department received a call to the college at 10:37 a.m. Friday. Deputies arrived to find a large number of students involved in the fight. Assistance from other agencies was requested and a total of 10 officers, plus Jarvis security officers were utilized to separate the students. There were no weapons involved.
The release states that five people who were deemed to be the instigators were arrested and transported to the Wood County Jail and charged with disorderly conduct. One of the five was found to have marijuana on him while being booked into jail. Emergency medical services were not needed at the scene.
Sheriff Jim Brown said there is no information available yet to indicate the cause of the fray. College officials have stated that the five students who were arrested will face administrative action by the college.
Two of those arrested were from Dallas, two were from Houston. They were Mark Sanchez, 20, and Dedrick Benjamin, 19, both of Houston and Claude Caleb Williams, 19, and Keundre Jones, 18, both of Dallas. Isaac Alexander White, 18, Lancaster was charged the disorderly conduct and possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, a third degree felony.
