Fire destroys Alba-Golden ag barn; three goats perish
Just two days after the Alba-Golden school district advertised for the construction of a new agriculture facility, the old wooden structure it was slated to replace burned to the ground, killing the show goats of three students.
Plans for the new ag facility were finalized by the school board this month, and Jackson Construction advertised that bids for the new facility are scheduled to be opened on Jan. 19.
Completion is expected for the 2021-2022 school year.
In the mean time the district is looking at alternative means for housing show animals.
The fire occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 26, more than a week after classes dismissed for the Christmas holiday.
