Filing underway in city council, school board elections
Filing for places on city council and school board ballots began Wednesday and goes until Friday, Feb. 12 for the May 1 elections.
Mineola School Board has two seats to be decided. Jay McGough and Daniel Louderman are the incumbents.
Mineola City Council election includes the mayor’s post and three council members, one from each ward. Mayor Kevin White has said he will not seek reelection. The ward seats are held by Polly Jones, Mitchell Tuck and Greg Hollen.
Quitman city council has the mayor and two council seats up for election. Incumbents are Randy Dunn, mayor, and council members Brad Medlin and David Dobbs.
For the Quitman School Board, three seats will be decided. They are held by Michael Hipp, Jeremy Smith and Royce Patterson.
Two Alba-Golden School Board seats are up for grabs. Incumbents are Grant Sadler, who is completing the one-year unexpired term, and Mike Ragsdale.
City of Alba council seats held by Don Heinert and Larry Harris are on the ballot as well as the mayor’s spot, held by Preston “Sonny” Hass.
For the Yantis School Board, seats held by Stacy Wetzel, Michael Burnett and Tyra Kenemer are up.
For the Yantis City Council, incumbnets are Mayor John D. Norris III (Trey) and council members Bruce Sumner and Julie Mattox.
School board terms are for three years and city council positions for two years.
