Filing deadline approaches for spring party primaries
The deadline to file for the March 1 Republican and Democratic primaries in Texas is Monday, Dec. 13.
As of Dec. 6, the following have filed for office in Wood County, all Republicans:
County commissioneres Jerry Gaskill in Precinct Two and Russell Acker in Precinct Four are seeking reelection.
Three of the four incumbent justices of the peace have filed for reelection: Tony Gilbreath in Precinct One, Janae Holland in Precinct Two and Jerry Parker in Precinct Three.
Other incumbents to file include County Judge Lucy Hebron, District Attorney Angela Albers and County Clerk Kelley Price.
Kevin White has also filed for county judge, Suzy Wright has filed for district clerk and Daphne Carter has filed for county treasurer.
The county’s state and U.S. representatives have also filed for reelection, Cole Hefner and Lance Gooden, along with State Sen. Bryan Hughes. Gooden has a Democratic opponent, Kathleen Cordelia Bailey of Dallas.
