Early voting begins Monday for November election
Early voting in the Nov. 2 general election begins Monday, Oct. 18 at the Wood County elections office in Quitman.
Early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Oct. 29.
Voting hours on Election Day will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A list of the consolidated election precincts and voting locations can be found in the public notice on Page 5A.
The election includes eight state constitutional amendments and authority to raise the property tax limit for residents of Emergency Services District No. 1.
By state law emergency services districts may have a property tax rate of up to 10 cents per $100 valuation if approved by voters of the district.
ESD-1 is proposing a tax rate of 5.25 cents, which also requires voter approval since it exceeds the maximum allowed by law without a vote.
The current tax rate is 1.97 cents.
Sample ballots may be found on the website of the Wood County elections administrator, at mywoodcounty.com under the elections office tab.
