Drug detection dog leads to seizure and arrest

Posted

A drug bust in Mineola on Monday led to the discovery that methamphetamines may have been shipped from a Mineola residence to locations around the country for the past two years.

Precinct 2 Constable Kelly Smith and his canine Mata were able to detect the meth which led to a search and seizure of meth.

Arthur Lee Pipkin was arrested and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance from one to four grams. He remained in the Wood County Jail on Tuesday.

According to a post on Constable Smith’s Facebook page, a “random open air sniff” resulted in an alert by the trained drug detection dog, which led to the discovery of the drugs as well as scales and distribution materials in a home on N. Pacific, which also falls under the Drug Free Zone laws which can enhance any criminal penalties.

Additional suspects have been identified in other states and warrants issued, according to Smith.

Mineola police assisted in the arrest.
