Douglas Reeves, 1932-2020

Douglas Reeves died Sunday, July 26 at age 88 from natural causes at his home in Waxahachie. He was born in Terrell and predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Ann Reeves in 2016; his father, John Carroll Reeves of Terrell; mother, Alma Pauline Reeves (Wallace); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

Douglas graduated from Terrell High School and went to North Texas State University. Upon graduation he went into the United States Air Force as an officer. Upon leaving the service he returned to Dallas to start his teaching and coaching career with the Dallas Independent School District. Douglas continued his education while teaching and achieved a PhD in education from East Texas State University. Mineola was his retirement dream. From 1974-1989 Doug was active in Mineola with many activities –  Kiwanis Club, politics, ran for Wood County commissioner and was a member of New Life Church. 

In 1989 Douglas needed more to do so he opened a small sign shop in Waxahachie. He commuted back and forth from 1989 to 1999 then he retired again to take care of his wife, Patricia Reeves. 

Douglas will be laid to rest next to his wife in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola.
