Audrey D. “Billy” Shirah 1930-2017
MINEOLA-Graveside services for Audrey “Billy” Shirah, 86, Mineola were held Monday at Pilgrim Rest #2 Cemetery in Golden.
Mr. Shirah died March 9, 2017. He was born December 30, 1930, in Lee County, Alabama to the late Alex and Elsie Shirah. He served in the Army during the Korean War, earning two Purple Hearts. He retired from the City of McKinnney.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Merlene Shirah, Mineola; sons, Leon Shirah, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Eugene Shirah of Princeton, Texas; daughters, Barbara Barnes, Opelika, Alabama and Vickie Clark, Melissa, Texas; a brother, Thomas Shirah, Columbus, Georgia; a sister, Lois Moore, Opelika, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
