COVID cases, deaths increase
The latest COVID-19 statistics from the Northeast Texas Public Health District show Wood County with a cumulative 829 cases, of which 172 were active as of Monday, and 27 deaths.
The statistics reported by the health authority include 636 confirmed cases and 193 probable cases, with 58 confirmed active cases and 114 probable.
The deaths include 24 confirmed COVID-19-related and three probable.
Probable cases are awaiting a confirmed test.
The state reports 6,910 Wood County residents have been tested since March.
The case counts include 257 in the Mineola ZIP code, with nine deaths, 168 in Winnsboro with 11 deaths, 165 in Quitman with four deaths, 91 in Alba with two deaths, 12 in Holly Lake Ranch with one death, 71 in Hawkins, 57 in Yantis, five in Golden, two in Emory and one in Big Sandy.
The latest death was reported Monday in Winnsboro.
The Wood County spread level of 23.84 is considered moderate (between 10-35).
