Quitman man dies in crash
A 23 year-old Quitman man was killed in a tragic traffic accident Wednesday on Toll Road 49 in Tyler.
According to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Jean Dark, 23-year-old John Turner of Quitman died moments after a Ford Mustang rolled off a trailer, went into traffic and hit his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado which was following behind the trailer.
Two other passengers of the Silverado, Corbin Massey, 27, and Martin Bustos, 21, were taken to ETMC and released.
Turner was a student at The University of Texas at Tyler majoring in biology and worked part-time at Lowe’s in Lindale. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Quitman and graduated with honors from Quitman High School in 2011.
A memorial service was held Monday morning at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Mineola.
