City of Mineola awarded COVID-19 grant dollars
The city of Mineola is among East Texas cities and counties to be awarded a portion of $1 million in coronavirus relief funds.
The city is receiving $98,442. Seven cities and five counties earned awards.
The state made $41 million available as part of the federal monies it received.
Mineola police will benefit from a $67,050 upgrade to computer technology.
The East Texas Council of Governments announced the regional awards last Thursday, which ranged from $10,698 for the city of Point to $262,295 for Harrison County.
The rest of the funds are being used by the city for a variety of personal protection equipment and cleaning supplies.
Installation of the mobile data video conferencing platform from Peacemaker Technologies is expected to begin this week. It includes tablets, keyboards and printers installed in nine police mobile units and the software to operate them.
