Child Safety Seat Check-Up Sept. 23

Would your child‘s car seat pass inspection? Get a free car seat check-up locally.

During the pandemic parents had lots on their mind, but car seats may not have been at the top of the list. Most parents think they are using their car seat correctly, but unfortunately, most car seats are not used correctly. For a car seat to best protect your child, it must be the one that fits your child, your vehicle, and one that you will use correctly every time you travel.

Now is a great time to get a free car seat inspection to make sure that your car seat fits your child and is installed correctly in your vehicle. A free child safety seat check-up event is scheduled to be held on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 1-3 p.m. at the WIC Office, 1020 E. Goode St., Quitman.

The car seat inspections will be done by appointment and should take 30 minutes for each inspection. Please call the Wood County Extension Office at 903-763-2924 or the Quitman WIC Office at 903-763-4123 to schedule your appointment time.

The event is sponsored locally by the Wood County Extension Office, Quitman WIC Office, People’s Telephone Cooperative, TxDOT/Tyler District and the Passenger Safety KidSafe Initiative.

Remember: All  passengers under age 13 should ride securely restrained in the back seat, where they are safest – every trip, every time.
