The Mineola Chamber of Commerce provided the venue last Thursday for the city to celebrate together again. It wasn’t a celebration of what the city was once again doing; it was a celebration of what the city has been doing all along.

The chamber welcomed 300 people to the 75th annual banquet at the Mineola Civic Center.

With Clint Alford and Owen Tiner providing the live music, Cowburners BBQ cooking up dinner and a host of games and silent auction items at hand, an enjoyable night was had.

Pam Thurman and Misty Hooks received recognition as Mineola Lions Club Women of the Year. Thurman was recognized as the selectee from 2020 and Hooks from 2021.

The Rotary Club awarded Roy Shockey the distinction of Mineola Man of the Year. Shockey was attending the graduation of his granddaughter from nursing school and could not personally receive the award.

The Mineola Pilot Club and Mineola Kiwanis Club selected Robbie Ballard and Alyson Overall as the Humanitarian of the Year and Teacher of the Year, respectively.

Steve and Ellen Brooke garnered the B.R. Short Community Spirit Award, while the Lou Mallory Historic Preservation Award was presented to the Lake Country Playhouse and was received by Jeff D. Hurley.

With a delicious dinner, plenty of banter, and excellent service provided by members of the Mineola High School Key Club, the event was one to remember.
