Benjamin Hinds, 1944-2021

Benjamin Hinds, 76, of Quitman passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. Visitation for Mr. Hinds was held on Friday April 2, 2021 at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman from 6 to 8 p.m. with services on Saturday April 3, 2021 at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home at 10 a.m., and he was laid to rest at the Roselawn Cemetery in Mineola. 

Ben was born on Oct. 8, 1944 to parents Ben Sr. and Rose (Greco) Hinds in Houston. He married Kay on Oct. 16, 1962 at Mt. Houston Baptist Church in Houston and was married for 58 wonderful years. He worked for American National Can for 24 years. Ben was a deacon at Hainesville Baptist Church and treasured every moment he spent growing in his faith. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Flora Masonic Lodge #119 AF & AM and a member of the Lake Fork Quitman Car Club. He was a very active member of his community. He will be remembered for his fish fries at the masonic lodge and time spent as the superintendent of Sunday School at Hainesville. 

Ben is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Sandra Boudreaux and her husband Patrick of Willis; son, Joe Hinds and wife Diane of Quitman; brothers, Russell Hinds and wife Monica of League City and Charlie Hinds and wife Laurie of Quitman; sister, Mariola Smith and husband Lee of Quitman; grandchildren, Nichole Shelby and husband Collin, Katie Boudreaux and Donny Yates; great-grandchildren, Bailey Shelby, Cooper Shelby and Elizabeth Yates; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
