Bass sets major league record

Ott DeFoe of Blaine, Tenn. had a remarkable 66 minutes during the championship round that will live on in Bass Pro Tour history for many years to come.

DeFoe completed an improbable run of 18 bass for 57 pounds, 4 ounces to give him his first Bass Pro Tour Stage Championship trophy in the last hour of the day. The final day of the competition was at Lake Athens Sunday after starting at Lake Fork earlier in the week.

After a record-breaking week on Lake Fork, it should come as no surprise that the MLF pros totaled a whopping 80 bass over the weight of six pounds: 36 six-pounders, 22 seven-pounders, 13 eight-pounders, seven nine-pounders and two 10-plus-pounders. Justin Atkins caught the largest bass ever caught in MLF competition at Lake Fork.

DeFoe took home the $100,000 first prize followed by Alton Jones Jr. who came in second and won $42,000 with Mark Daniels Jr. winning third place money of $34,000.
