Attaway named director for Quitman development
Quitman City Administrator James Attaway will also be the executive director of the Quitman Development Corp. (QDC).
Both roles were previously held by former administrator Rodney Kieke, who retained his role as QDC director after Attaway became the city administrator.
The QDC board approved Attaway’s appointment unanimously Monday.
The board approved the expenditure of $1,755 for porta-johns for the Quitman Chamber of Commerce’s Hometown Christmas on Dec. 2.
Jason Slagle, from Peoples, gave a presentation about an initiative to expand their fiber internet capabilities in the local area.
Lance Flores with Hilltop Securities gave a presentation about the services they offer to EDCs.
The board approved several matters relating to the investment of QDC funds which should help improve interest income.
The board unanimously approved the following officers: Martha Scroggins, president; Kevan Burroughs, vice president; and Greg Eberhart, treasurer.
The board met in closed session concerning real estate but took no action.
