All-district 12-3A volleyball selections announced

The Quitman Lady Bulldogs had two volleyball players win superlative awards with talented senior Shelby Hayes voted “Setter of the Year” and sensational sophomore Ava Burroughs “Blocker of the Year” in District 12-3A.

All-district 12-3A volleyball selections announced

The Quitman Lady Bulldogs had two volleyball players win superlative awards with talented senior Shelby Hayes voted “Setter of the Year” and sensational sophomore Ava Burroughs “Blocker of the Year” in District 12-3A.

In addition to those two, Quitman had two first team all district members and Mineola had one.  Quitman seniors Jentri Jackson and Maddy Whitehurst each garnered first team honors while multiple sport star senior Sabria Dean of Mineola grabbed another of the first team honors. 

Mineola senior Meghan Brewington and Quitman senior Julia Simpkins were voted on the second team.

Alba-Golden, Quitman and Mineola were all well-represented on the Academic All District team. 

Alba-Golden players on the academic team were: senior Ann-Marie Pendergrass; juniors Hope Wiley and Abby Hallman; and freshmen Crimson Bryant and Cacie Lennon.

Receiving the academic honors for Mineola were: seniors Kelsey Brewington, Meghan Brewington, Kaitlyn Burrell, Cynthia Butler, Jessiah Riley, Tiara Stephens; juniors Tahjae Black and Valeria Garcia; and sophomores Sofia Lopez and freshman Mylee Fischer.

Quitman academic team players were: seniors Savannah Breding, Hayes, Jackson, Simpkins, and Whitehurst; juniors Lucy Brannon and Lindsey Hornaday; and sophomores Ava Burroughs, Brooklyn Marcee and Rebecca Wood.

Honorable Mention All District went to: Alba-Golden’s Wiley, Hallman, Bryant, Lennon and Pendergrass; Quitman’s Brannon and Hornaday; and Mineola’s Josye Simms, Lopez, Fischer, Black, Kelsey Brewington, Butler, Brittany Pickle, Kaitlyn Pickle, Burrel, Garcia, Stephens and Alyssa Cannon.
