4-H food challenge team advances to state
The Wood County Senior 4-H Food Challenge Team recently won first place at the District 5 Food Challenge contest and earned the right to advance to state competition at Texas 4-H Round-Up at Texas A&M University in June.
The team has been practicing for months and will continue to do so until the state contest.
The Food Challenge contest features teams of 3-4 members who receive secret ingredients and then work as a team to prepare a healthy dish in one of four food categories and do a team presentation that includes information on nutrition, MyPlate, food preparation, food safety, cost analysis of the dish, possible food substitutions and their own healthy lifestyle choices.
